What is identity is it a person’s characteristics or they’re name. The definition of that word is still unknown in my dictionary. There are different types of definition for identity. Such as a person’s name or their physical appearance. We are talking about online identity. A person’s life online, such as Msn, Hotmail, Youtube, Facebook, Hifive, IMEEM, WordPress and any other mail or online accounts that I’ve missed. Humans are like many say are reason to pollution, and in my opinion I believe it to be sadly true.
Now I am saying this because when, an individual comes up with a creation to help our society become a better place to live. This creation is often used by another individual from the same society uses that creation for destruction. Emails, Facebook, etc, they were originally meant for people to have a better way of communicating with each other. To be honest people take advantage of an individual’s/s creation.
Parents are now being very strict about “life online,” especially for kids who are under the age of 16, being an easier prey means more risk. Mother “bears” who protect their cubs from internet predators. They enforce rules, requirements and obligations hoping that their cubs (kids) would keep their promises. For such mothers internet predators and slackers are animals who hunt not only for survival but for pleasure, and leave their kids extremely defenseless and naive.
I grew up with a mother that was very strict. She resembles a mother bear; I guess part of it is religion, culture, and individual values. My mother never liked the idea of having a computer, especially in my room. She made me fully understand the risks before she even thought of buying one for me. I wasn’t a child that needed someone to explain things to her. To be honest I grew up only knowing how to take care of myself. I was an anti-social type of person, I am not saying that I m still not, but now I have the understanding of what friendship or having one means. I am happy that I was so careless. When I think about my carelessness, it actually saved me a lot of headaches. The fact that I had a strict mother that helped me understand thing that I normally knew (roll eyes).
However living in Canada has its own advantages, for example I really like that the school boards also explain the risks of giving private information to people online, or strangers. Growing up in Canada I now have a better understanding of the real world. I know that even my mother feels ease about being in a country here kids are protected. We fled our homeland for variety of reasons. The obvious and the most important one was of course “war.” We departed from our homeland and never set foot on it again. Even if we stayed in Afghanistan, I don’t think we would have made it this far to actually think about “life online,” or a school board in Kabul telling kids about predators and stalkers. Or even parents warning their kids from online risks.
However internet was built for resource and chat rooms for people to stay in touch. Like I said before, one takes advantage of one’s creation. Parent now think that “life online” is very risky, but the original creator didn’t create it for the massacre of millions.
The documentary that we watched about “life online,” how depressed kids felt ease about having someone to listen to them. I learned that mostly all kids have some sort of internal problems. Some afraid to socialize, some of them felt that only killing was the answer to their problems. Some were depressed because they weren’t acknowledged. Eventually all the kids found out that “life online” was what they needed. History repeated itself once again. One of the kids, a little boy found a friend online who pursued him and encouraged him on the topic of suicide. I am surprised that this person wasn’t arrested for his sins. In my opinion I believe if someone who knows someone will kill themselves and if they don’t help save that person they are no less than a murderer.
Those who kill themselves for whatever reason I call them “half-baked.” I think of them as immature people who can’t seem to deal with their problem/s. I have never in my whole life thought about suicide or death, not because of my religious beliefs or other reasons. I could never put myself in that kind of situation. No matter how hard life maybe at times, taking your life isn’t going to make it any easier. I always find it very confusing to understand; maybe I am “half-baked” too. It sounds kind of cool when I say it that way. Maybe it’s a good thing to be “half-baked.” in this kind of a situation.
Another girl who was depressed because she wasn’t accepted in her community, people didn’t acknowledge her special beauty. She made her “life online” her first priority. Also her semblance online was false, but the overwhelming feeling she received was what she really wanted. She started to get comments about her pictures online. Like every other girl she wanted to be complemented and be told that she was beautiful. Soon she lost herself in people’s words; she started to put half nude pictures of herself online. The school reported her behavior to the parents. The parent like every other parent, were shocked. They forced her to delete all her pictures from her computer and Facebook. The girl felt like she was back at square one, going through depression, and the pain of not being acknowledged. Her parent in the end gave her permission to post her picture and go back to her “life online.” This is where I go “half-baked.” I mean if I was her mother I would make sure she didn’t lay eyes on a computer ever again. If that didn’t help I would poke her eyes out. It’s not my place to talk, I mean her parent properly felt her pain and they couldn’t see their little “pumpkin” hurt anymore. I am not a mother so that is why I properly don’t understand why they let her continue unloading nude pictures of herself. I really don’t understand where their pride went?
Social networking is changing as the years pass by. People express themselves through words, but also through art and images. Some people recreate themselves online so they can be known as a “cool” or “emo” type of a person. Some individuals ask for advice in provide, some ask everyone in their “friend list,” some even ask complete strangers for support or advice. Over all I think who we hang around with and how easily a human adapts a certain type of a personality, depending on who we hang around with or who we look up to has a big impact on us. Sometimes the answer we receive can be misleading or harmful, and the consequences might not be a very ordinary misconception.
Now a days business people also find social networking very useful. Some businesses have their own “websites.” Many people find advertising on the “internet” very useful and affective. Not only do marketers dig their claws in to this kind of a business but clubs, fans, group, agencies, communities and others also find it helpful. The internet has changed the way people do business. It’s easier and faster for companies to market their products. Advertising online is cheaper for companies; also they reach the target audience faster. They can reach costumers not only regional but globally. The more costumers they attract the more profit for the company.
There are also side affects in social networking. Some individuals get obsessed with MSN, Facebook or even their cell phones. Sometimes it gets to a point where they will find a need for eye glasses. Some get massive headaches from being on the computer too much. The recommended hours for a person to spend on the computer is from 0 to 3 hours a day after that the eyes and the brain get exhausted from over work. Washing the eyes with cold water is the best way to decrease your eye blood pressure.
The recommendation for workstation users (that I stick by even now) is 15 minute break every hour. Do some paperwork, take a stretch, have that quick meeting instead, make a phone call.
It is also advisable to do near to middle distance viewing as often as you can for example look up and across the room, for middle to long distance viewing look out a window. This will help your eyes keep normal focal viewing as it would if you were in a ‘natural’ environment.
One of the things too that they don’t tell you and that you should be aware of is that pc use lessens the eyes ability to blink. The body will blink in a relaxed state approx every 5-7 seconds; this is markedly decreased with use on a pc as much as 20 plus seconds and longer on some people. This muscles need to blink to relax and to clean the eyeball. This can often give a fixed staring tight face on pc users and dry eye syndrome.
Take care out there, you can get another computer, you can’t get another pair of eyes and you’re right to be concerned. I took a poll in one of the offices I worked in of 30plus year old staff and 84 % of them wore glasses, which is way above the national average….you go figure!

Well since that the Japanese made “Manga” the world of social networking has gotten even bigger then expected. Kids make their own website just for Manga, and the massive hours that are being spent each day unloading videos and pictures is unpredictable. It’s a massive industry just made for entertainment. Movies, anime episodes, Mangas, pictures, books and toys are all advertised online from Japan globally. If the internet or computers weren’t created we would have been all just regional. No one outside Japan would have known what Manga really is. Some people blame the “life online” for how their life has turned out. Other fined it a very useful resource.
Basically we started with “identity” and what is identity, we talked about strict parents who see no use for “life online.” The difference between life in Canada and Afghanistan, how that school boards explain the risks of talking to stranger online. Further more how people take advantage of one’s creation and use it for someone else’s disadvantage. The documentary that we watched about the two kids, one killing himself and the other one posting nude pictures of herself just to get attention, and how people recreated themselves online by giving false identity. Businesses manage their advertising online to reach the target audience and the effects on the eyes and last but not least Manga. In the end no matter how hard one person tries the world will remain the same. The effort the person puts in is what counts. I guess in the future we just have to have a 360 degree watch around ourselves.
